FIELD: manufacture of synthetic rubbers. SUBSTANCE: the thallic oil based emulsifier is prepared by disproportionating thallic oil in an inert gas in the presence of iodine when the latter is used in an amount of 0.1-1.0 wt % per thallic oil using step wise heating first at 160-170 C and a pressure of 0.5-1.0 atm gauge for 40-60 minutes and then at 180-210 C and a pressure of 1.5-3.0 atm gauge for 30-60 minutes followed by saponification of the product with an alkali solution. The properties are as follows: the invention makes it possible to decrease the process temperature and simplify the manufacturing process. The amount of acids having conjugated double bonds varies from 0.9 to 1.8%. EFFECT: more efficient preparation process. 5 tbl
