FIELD: measuring technique. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming in a real temperature range a thermal image with a number of decomposition elements, had been determined beforehand; subjecting it to structural decomposition to information-content components with simultaneous evaluation of values of temperature and of geometry parameters of these components; combining all parameters of the information content components according to their information content top combinations, representing thermographic images of possible states of the object being investigated; using received values of parameters, determining it a given thermal image according to its maximum probability of belonging belongs to a respective image. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of discrimination for each information content zone. 1 cl, 1 dwg
