FIELD: gas processing industry. SUBSTANCE: method for sulfur production consists in oxidation of hydrogen sulfide with oxygen-containing gas at 150-325 C in fluidized bed of catalyst. Method includes the following operations: supply into fluidized bed of hydrogen sulfide and oxygen-containing gases; condensation and separation of sulfur from reaction product at outlet of fluidized bed; supply of produced gas to the next oxidation stage; maintenance of fluidized state for, at least, the first two oxidation stages. Supply of oxygen containing gases to each stage should satisfy the inequality given in the invention description. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 tbl
