METHOD OF CONTINUOUS CASTING OF FLAT INGOTS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of continuous casting of flat ingots provides for feeding metal in clearance between driven drum, side flanges and endless belt, that rounds the flanges; formation of ingot in radial direction between the drum, the belt and the side flanges; ingot reduction in the clearance between the drum and the belt in its solid-liquid state by the drum motion; drawing ingot with changeable speed; ingot unbending from radial state into horizontal state by rollers. Solid-liquid state ingot reduction up to final thickness is exercised on two sites. In the case, solid-liquid state ingot reduction is made after the ingot leaves the clearance between the drum and the belt by value of 0,1...0,6(H-h), with H - initial ingot thickness on meniscus of metal in the clearance between the drum and the endless belt, mm; h - final ingot thickness after its solid-liquid state reduction, mm; (0.1 - 0.6) - empirical factor, considering regularities of deformations of narrow flat ingots being in solid-liquid state reduction by rollers.
