FIELD: foundry engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has drum, side rims with rotation drives, endless belt and rollers. Belt rounds rim sides and drive rolls. Rollers support and press the belt to rims in cross direction. Wedge-shaped flanges are constructed at the drum edges from its front and back sides. Their dimensions are: height n-(0,05-0,2)(H-h) and width m=(0,2-0,5)(H-h), where H is gap value between drum and drive roll in an inlet point of device, mm; (0,05-0,2) and (0,2-0,5) are empirical coefficients considering regularities of reduction deformation of narrow sides of slab in solid-liquid state and protruding of narrow slab sides in the process of reduction of a slab in solid-liquid state, dimensionless.
