APPARATUS FOR SECONDARY COOLING OF MACHINE FOR BILLET CONTINUOUS CASTING (VARIANTS) Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, namely, ingot secondary cooling in machines for continuous casting of steel and alloys. SUBSTANCE: apparatus including sprayers mounted on manifold and means for regulating intensity of cooling process sprayer jet include two mutually joined inserts one of which is secured to body and other is mounted with possibility of reciprocation axial motion. Means for intensity regulation is in the form of multilink joint-lever mechanism with common tie rod whose links are connected with drive unit for moving movable insert of each sprayer. In variant apparatus for secondary cooling in machine for billet continuous casting includes sprayers mounted on manifold between supporting members of sprayer and means for regulating intensity of billet cooling. Outlet jets of each sprayer are in the form of two mutually joined inserts one of which is secured to body and other is mounted in that body with possibility of reciprocating axial motion. Inclined stream deflectors arranged in space between billet and supporting members are additionally secured to sprayers. Inclination angles of stream deflectors arranged between adjacent supporting members are mutually opposite. Preferably, deflectors are symmetrical one. Such apparatus allows to clean sprayers by cooling liquid flow for removing containing in liquid solid particles had been collected on them during operation process. EFFECT: simplified maintenance procedures, increased reliability of apparatus operation, reduced energy consumption, enhanced efficiency of billet cooling process. 3 cl, 5 dwg
