ADJUSTABLE SPRAYER Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, namely, systems for secondary cooling of ingots at continuous casting of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: adjustable sprayer includes body with duct for supplying cooling medium, movable insert coaxially mounted in that body and jet arranged on outlet portion. Insert is built-up one in the form of two mutually joined insertion pieces. One of these pieces is movably mounted in body and connected with drive unit for moving it relative to stationary insertion piece. Duct for supplying cooling medium adjoins to jet formed by surfaces of joined insertion pieces and shaped inner surface and outlet cross section whose shape and area change under mutual axial motion of insertion pieces. Sprayer jet may be slit or in the form of group of openings arranged at least on joining surface of insertion piece. Such adjustable sprayer may be effectively cleaned from contamination with solid particles. EFFECT: broadened functional possibilities, enhanced reliability of sprayer operation. 3 cl, 6 dwg
