FIELD: mining industry; applicable in protection of mine workings under conditions of high rock pressure. SUBSTANCE: method includes making of compensation cavities in rock mass through entire thickness of bed at definite distance from protected working with leaving of useful mineral pillar-between working and compensation cavities. Compensation cavity is made in rock mass preliminarily before performance os stoping operations and located between protected working and stopped space at distance equaling the rated one to maximum of bearing pressure from boundary of space to be stopped, and protected working is located at distance equaling two distances from boundary of space to be stopped. EFFECT: provided stability of protected working under conditions of high rock pressure with considerable reduction of mineral losses in rock mass. 4 cl, 2 dwg
