FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: before working pillars, they are divided into operating sections, and protection workings are divided into extreme and central. Drilled from extreme workings in both directions are counter-bump relieving bore-holes of large diameter. Number of relieving bore-holes is increased to value at which rock pressure forces will crush intervals between bore-holes. Caving of roof is undertaken from start of operating section between boundaries of pillars and extreme workings at interval of natural sinking pitch, and started between them is extraction of coal from over-foot layer of seam. Simultaneously, released to it is coal from under-roof layer which is crushed by rock pressure forces. Subsequent caving of roof is effected at interval of natural sinking pitch between extreme workings. EFFECT: high efficiency. 1 cl, 2 dwg
