FIELD: sealing engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises rolling a graphite belt, deforming the belt with a constant step by bending its portions in counter directions to form corrugations, compression of the corrugations until they abut against blades, arranging the belt formed in the groove for the sealing spacer, and pressing by tightening bolts of a butt to be sealed. The belt is deformed to form corrugations either parallel to the direction of rolling or at an acute angle to the direction of the rolling. EFFECT: simplified method. 3 cl, 3 dwg
