FIELD: sorption technique. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to active carbon applicable in gas purification, recovery of volatile solvents, water treatment, soil purification, and in gas mask technics. To prepare such carbon, original peat is broken up, wetted to produce homogeneous paste, complemented with 4-25% of potassium and 1-12% of sulfur, granulated, dried, carbonized, activated, washed with potassium sulfide solution, hydrochloric acid, and water, and finally dried and thermally treated at 600-670 C. EFFECT: increased adsorption capacity of activated carbon.
