SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology for preparing activated carbon and can be used for preparing activated carbons used in scrubbing, recuperation of volatile solvents, preparing and treatment of water, soil treatment, gasproof technique. Invention proposes a method for preparing activated carbon from turf that involves milling the parent raw, addition of solution containing potassium and sulfur to the milled raw, granulation, drying, carbonization, activation of granules at the rate of temperature rise 10-25 C/min, washing out granules with potassium sulfite, hydrochloric acid solutions and water followed by drying granules and their additional thermal treatment. Proposed method provides enhancing the protective effectiveness of activated carbon by chloroorganic substance vapors.
