SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology for preparing activated carbon and can be used for preparing activated carbons used in scrubbing, recuperation of volatile solvents, preparing and treatment of water, soil treatment, gasproof technique and in other branches of industry. Invention proposes a method for preparing active carbon that involves grinding the parent raw, possible addition of coal in the amount 10-40 wt.-% and activating agent to the ground raw followed by granulating, drying, carbonization and activation of granules. Turf with the decomposition degree 25-33% is used as the parent raw. The proposed method provides enhancing adsorption capacity of activated carbon per the volume unit by organic substance vapors with boiling point 60-100 C.
