FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: initial blank is cut off from a coined rod or wire and rod is extruded with further flattening the end faces. The blank is then mounted in a die with a hollow axial space for extruding hollow, upsetting the flange, and drawing to thin the walls. The semifinished item obtained is transported to the other die, which is provided with a through axial space, for extruding a space in the flange and forming a cross-piece, stamping the flange, and punching a cross- piece to obtain a finished opening.
