FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ammunition, in particular, cartridge cases for small arms. Billet cut from bar or wire and gauged is used to extrude cylindrical stepped shell. Shell wall is thinned in two-sided lengthwise extrusion by stepped male die in stepped female die. The latter has guide section and working cavity. In extrusion, material of stepped shell is extruded in two opposite directions. By extruding material in direction of male die stroke shell bottom section is formed. By extruding material in direction opposite that of male die stroke shell top section is formed. In this case shell material is extruded into annular cavity formed by female die and male die steps. Then, bottom and primer seat are formed and case body and muzzle section are squeezed.
EFFECT: simplified procedure, reduced load on working tool.
