FIELD: synthetic rubber production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of gel-free cis-1,4-polybutadiene by polymerization of 1,3-butadiene in wet hydrocarbon solvent in presence of cobalt- alkylaluminium chloride. In order to lower atomic ratio Al/Co, a catalytic complex is utilized prepared by successively introducing hydrocarbon solutions of cobalt and alkylaluminium chloride into cooled water-containing 1,3-butadiene hydrocarbon solution at alkylaluminium chloride to cobalt ratio 3-50 followed by aging reaction mixture. Polymerization is carried out at a temperature within the range from -14 to 60 C. Synthesized cis-1,4- polybutadiene may be applied in tire industry, in shock-resistant polystyrene production, and in production of industrial-rubber articles.
