FIELD: wind-electric power engineering with synchronous generators primarily operating into supply mains. SUBSTANCE: control process involves aerodynamic windwheel power limiting by varying position of windwheel blades relative to wind, and windwheel stopping for certain time interval within which windwheel power is reduced by at least 40-60% of rated value; after that, at the same time as generator is disconnected from supply mains, aerodynamic windwheel power limitation is superposed onto mechanical brake of entire system of power plant rotating parts; braking torque setting is constant value corresponding to rated torque in plant transmission; then at the same brake torque, inertia moment of rotating parts is reduced in steps by separating this system into several, at least two parts. Braking torque is applied to rotating members through intermediate shaft of multistage step-up gear or to its output shaft, for example, by applying it to generator shaft. Additional braking torque may be built up by running generator as electromagnetic brake turned on in absence of blade angle control. At windwheel power lower than 40% of rated value rotating parts are braked and windwheel is stopped directly without aerodynamic power limiting. Stepped variation of inertia moment of rotating parts is made in time interval t determined from equation t = (2-5)T, where T is period of low oscillating frequency of windwheel blade in least stiffness plane.
