FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed piston is provided with special nonmetallic or composite polymer insert made in form of cylinder with eccentric hole for piston pin, insert being fitted into preliminarily increased holes of piston bosses. Said insert is multipurpose, as it not only provides offset of piston ring, but provides displacement of center of piston masses relative to longitudinal axis, thus reducing mass of piston and ensuring damping of vibration. Invention is aimed at improving design of piston and its vibroacoustic characteristics. EFFECT: improved vibroacoustic characteristics. 2 cl, 4 dwg
