FIELD: sun-shielding devices. SUBSTANCE: umbrella has head part, carrier rods extending in radial directions from head part, and flat shielding strips fixed between rods. Carrier rods has telescopically connected rod members movable in longitudinal direction. Construction of carrier rods allows flat shielding strips to be moved one above the other. Umbrella may be in compact collapsed position or may be moved so that shielding surfaces of different area are formed. Sun shielding is selectively provided by different extent of overlap of partially transparent shielding strips.
