FIELD: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in processes involving electrochemical control of acid-base and redox properties, and catalytic activity of water. Apparatus of invention has electrochemical cell made of vertical coaxial rod and cylindrical electrodes, the latter being installed in dielectric bushings; ceramic diaphragm coaxially disposed between electrodes and separating interelectrode space into electrode compartments, lower and upper bushings having channels and fitting to enter and withdraw water being treated into cylindrical electrode compartment; power source bound with electrodes through switch unit; arrangement for entering and withdrawing water being treated into electrode compartments; pivotally installed upper and lower dielectric collector heads of the bushing size; head-fixation means, lower and upper heads having channels with fittings for entering and withdrawing water being treated into rod electrode compartment. Rod electrode is secured in heads by means of elastic seals. Heads are connected with bushings through slot connections. Diaphragm is secured by aid of elastic inserts placed in slot connections. Nipples of bushings and heads are connected to arrangement for entering and withdrawing water being treated. Rod electrode is made with variable cross-section and diameter of its ends equals 0.75 that of its middle part, the latter being positioned on the level confined with channels in upper and lower dielectric heads. Head-fixation means are in the form of pressing washers and nuts located on end parts of rod electrodes. EFFECT: improved design. 4 cl, 5 dwg, 1 tbl
