DISTILLATION APPARATUS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: distillation facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention focuses, in particular, on apparatuses for distilling sea water to produce sweet water. Apparatus contains multitude of flat shell-like members 3 made of thin film material such as thermoplastic film and disposed near each other. The members function as heat exchangers between vaporizing liquid flowing along outer surface of a member and condensing vapor directed inward the element. Apparatus also contains compensator 15 to increase pressure and temperature of vapor being generated prior to direct it inward members. Each upper end of member 3 supports end honeycomb-structured strip 4 whose width is equal to that of member. Strip contains parallel supplying channels 26 separated from each other with barriers. Channels spread liquid to be vaporized all over the width of member surface. In addition, strip 4 may contain channels 25 similar to channels 26 which lead vapor to be condensed inside member all over its width. Lower end of member may bear additional honeycomb-structured strip end 7 whose channels collect formed distillate in collecting vessel 8 and distribute any non-vaporized liquid into storage tank 9.
