FIELD: heat treatment of metals and alloys; applicable in mechanical engineering and other industries which are consumers of high-strength austenitic steels. SUBSTANCE: austenitic steel containing, mas.%: carbon 0.43; manganese 18.3; chromium 3.5; vanadium 1.2; the balance, iron, is heated up to 1100 C and hardened in water. Then, steel is heated up to 650 C, held at this temperature for 6 h, and treated with blast shock wave. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
