FIELD: knitting equipment, in particular, household knitting machines. SUBSTANCE: carriage drive of flat knitting machine has sprockets located on the ends of needle holder, flexible rod embracing the sprockets and rigidly connected with carriage. Flexible rod forms branches between sprockets. The drive has transmitting device having input and output shafts and connecting the motor with flexible rod, transducer of carriage motion direction and members acting on the transducer incorporated into the motor control circuit. The drive has additional motor kinematically connected with the main motor and transmitting device. Motor control circuit is made for alternate engagement of motors for motion of carriage in opposite directions. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 10 cl, 3 dwg
