METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ADDING ODORANT TO CONSUMER GAS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: municipal engineering. SUBSTANCE: there is described a method for adding odorant to consumer gas directed to consumption locus to let people know presence of gas in atmosphere in case of emergency. Odorant is dissolved in condensed diluting gas in container 3 under pressure to produce standard gas solution consisting of liquid phase 6 and gas phase 7. Consumer gas is diluted with appropriate amount of liquid phase of standard gas, which, prior to be mixed with consumer gas, is evaporated. Related apparatus contains means 18 to adjust proportion between the two gas streams during dilution procedure in dependence on increasing odorant concentration in liquid phase 6 of standard gas, which results in decreasing proportion between amount of liquid and gaseous phases in the container under pressure.
