FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials for hand arc welding. SUBSTANCE: electrode has steel rod containing carbon up to 0.1 %, and coating. Electrode coating has the following components, mas.-%: titanium concentrate, 15 - 20; manganese ore, 30-50; quartz sand, 7-10; ferrotitanium (33 % Ti), 12-15; kaolin, 5-25; wood flour, 2-3; carbon, 1-3; liquid glass 20-25 % to mass of dry charge Mass coefficient of coating is 36-42 %. Optimum concentration of carbon in coating is selected basing on equation 1 Cc=2+(0,08-Cr)•10, where 2 Cc - concentration of carbon in coating, %, 3 Cr concentration of carbon in rod, %. EFFECT: improved ecological characteristics owing to reductions of liberation of manganese oxides in welding aerosols at preservation of high welding and mechanical characteristics. 3 tbl
