FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: after preliminary machining the sleeve is treated by heat for hardening. Before heating sleeve portion 13 of its inner side, which corresponds to the zone of contact of the sleeve with the piston, and portion 14 of its outer side corresponding the zone of contact of the sleeve with the cooling jacket are covered with an absorber. The absorbing covering is dried and the sleeve is cooled up to a temperature 20-30°C. Portion 13 is then heated by a laser. EFFECT: simplified method. 3 dwg
