FIELD: instrument engineering; making of thin-walled spherical rotors for ball gyros. SUBSTANCE: thin walled hemispheres, outer diameter Dp are placed in hemispherical recesses, diameter Dn of welding dies. Dies are installed in centering members and are made of material with thermal expansion coefficient αn smaller than that of coefficient αp of material of hemispheres. Diameter Dp is greater than diameter Dn. Welding dies are fixed relative to each other by pressing them with axial pressure Pa. Welding temperature Tw to which rigging with hemispheres is gradually heated and at which isothermal holding is carried out exceeds temperature Tc of coincidence of diameters Dp and Dn. As a result, owing to different thermal expansion of hemispheres and dies, thermal interference pressure appears which creates radial stresses σp on surface of hemispheres. Diagram of distribution, value and character of variation of stresses is defined by difference ΔT=(Tw-Tc), relation between αn and αp and value of Pa. Welding temperature Tcv is selected to correspond to recrystallization temperature of material of hemispheres. EFFECT: improved accuracy of manufacture. 7 dwg
