FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: device has mechanism holding control rod above reactor core, rod accelerating mechanism, and its braking mechanisms. Accelerating mechanism is built up of combustion chamber with gas-generating charge, igniter, and explosive charge placed on second end of case and connected to control rod timing unit of safety system, and sheared- diaphragm piston mounted between combustion chamber and emergency control rod. Space between piston and rod is filled with cooling liquid, such as water; case has inlet and outlet check valves installed on both ends of space.
