FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: hull is wedge-shaped in cross section. Fore extremity is made in the form of taper section inclined to waterline at an angle of 20-45 deg relative to CL. In its upper portion this section is smoothly engageable with spherical section forming ridge at a distance of 0.10-0.15 of length of hull which is engageable in its turn with saddle-shaped surface whose minimum is located at a distance of 0.16-0.20 of hull length. Width of waterline in area of ridge exceeds that in area of saddle by 3-6 m. During motion of ship, broken ice slips off fore extremity to area of saddle-shaped surface and then under ice, thus ensuring free motion of ship and excluding damage to her propellers. EFFECT: avoidance of damage to ship's propellers. 6 dwg
