FIELD: measurement technology, determination of level and quantity of oil products in tanks of oil handling facilities or of water in reservoirs of water supply systems. SUBSTANCE: liquid level gauge incorporates measuring pulley with balancing spring of constant moment, float with negative buoyancy coupled to measuring pulley with the use of steel band, mechanism for readjustment of mass of float, carrier of information marks, reading device and secondary instrument in the form of electron unit of formation and registration of output signal. Reading device includes source of luminous flux, three photoconverters and three pairs of light guides installed with provision for optical contact between light guides of mentioned pairs through information marks with connection of one of light guides of each pair to source of luminous flux and of the other - to proper photoconverter. Electron unit incorporates three differentiation networks, commutator of information pulses and reversible counter. Commutator includes two groups of diodes and six electron keys. Steel band or band of additional band-pulling mechanism fitted with non-rigid coupling to steel band is used in the capacity of carrier of information marks. EFFECT: improved operational reliability and stability. 3 cl, 5 dwg
