FIELD: measurement of flow rate of domestic and industrial waste water in gravity-type sewer net. SUBSTANCE: distance to flowing layer of water is sounded at regular check of degree of filling the sewer header and on basis of sounding signal and one or two sequences of standard pulses at preset parameters three information signals are shaped for each cycle of measurement; duration of first information signal is proportional to degree of filling of header; duration of second signal is proportional to angle of inclination in graph of flow rate versus degree of filling; second information signal is used for automatic correction of count pulse repetition frequency; count pulses are used for filling the third information signal formed by means of multiplication of first information signal. For determination of total flow rate at multiplication of present cycle of measurement, additional signal is generated; on basis of this signal, information signals of next cycle in which trailing edge of similar signal of present cycle of measurement is assumed to be the leading edge of third information signal are sounded and formed. Device for realization of this method contains level sensor with control unit, DC motor and secondary meter. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurement. 8 cl, 6 dwg
