FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: built-up grinding wheel K uses a body in the form of a hollow cylinder, with blocks (B) cemented to its outer cylindrical surface; the blocks consist of compacted plates (P) of unwoven material impregnated with artificial resin containing abrasive grains. The plates are positioned in the block in helices to the axis of the wheel body so that the block bases represent helical surfaces. A formula is given for selection of the helix angle, depending on the wheel diameter, width and number of plates in it. Up to a half of the plates uniformly arranged in each block contain abrasive grains less than in the other plates by 10 to 50%. Balancing members made in the form of rings, with loads of higher and lower mass moving in the annular and radial grooves, are installed on the inner surface of the wheel body. EFFECT: enhanced capability, quality of working, enhanced serviceability of the wheel at finishing abrasive working of materials. 2 cl, 6 dwg
