FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particular oxygen-converter process of steel melting. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes charging of scrap, pouring of liquid cast iron, oxygen blowing, charging of slag-forming material and carbon-containing materials. Carbon- containing materials are introduced in form of hard charge stock which consists of loose carbon-containing material poured-on with iron-carbon alloy with concentration of carbon in melt amounting to less than 0.3% and temperature of 1630-1730 C in quantity of 5-100 kg/t of melt. Ratio of loose carbon-containing materials and iron-carbon alloy, and also of additional oxide material is regulated. Quantity of oxygen in oxide material is less then that required for complex oxidation of all elements contained in iron-carbon material by 10-90% and featuring affinity to oxygen higher than that of iron. Carbon-containing material may be introduced by two portions: first, in form of loose component, and then, in form of hard one with regulated method of introduction. The invention offers the particular materials used in the method. EFFECT: higher yield and reduced concentration of carbon in bath. 7 cl, 1 tbl
