FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particular, production of iron charge for steel melting in electric arc furnaces. SUBSTANCE: the offered pig has iron-carbon alloy and oxide material with the following content of components, mas. %: iron-carbon alloy 50.0-99.5; oxide material 0.5-50.0. Pig is made with pores and voids whose volume amounts to 0.1-0.7 of the total volume of pig. The offered pig for metallurgical conversion makes it possible to completely replace metal scrap in charging of electric arc furnaces. Tests of the offered charge show the positive results and is suitable for use under industrial conditions for making in electric furnaces of steel with no harmful and objectionable impurities.
