FIELD: high-voltage pulse technology; X-ray pulse apparatus and small-size direct-action accelerators. SUBSTANCE: voltage pulse generator using the Marx circuit has several stages with capacitors and spark gap in every stage. Stage capacitors are assembled in stack. Spark gap axis is parallel to axis of capacitor stack. Axes of all capacitor stacks are arranged in one plane, and axes of all spark gaps, in the other plane which is parallel to plane of stack axes. These planes are as close to each other as possible which is obtained due to such arrangement of generator members with respect to one another at which distances from axis of any capacitor stack to axes of adjacent spark gaps electrically connected to it are equal. EFFECT: smaller dimensions of accelerator high-voltage unit and consequently mass of liquid dielectric potted into accelerator unit is reduced by one and a half times. 2 dwg
