FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to technology and tools for restoration of worn-out ridges of solid-rolled railway wagon wheels by hard-facing. According to method, before hard-facing rim of wheel is heated to 160-180 C during 20-30 min, hard-facing is performed, then wheel is cooled in thermal-insulation chamber down to 50 C. Device has posts installed on base frame for placing wheel pair together with its axle boxes, wheel pair rotation drive unit, heater, automatic electric-arc welding unit, bin for flux. Mounted on output shaft of rotation drive unit is pulley with frictional coating for interaction with unworked wheel of wheel pair. Heater is of contactless type in the form of inductor which can be moved along base frame with technological clearance relative to rim of wheel being treated. EFFECT: high efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
