FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of machine building, namely to the restoration of worn-out working surfaces of large-sized bodies of rotation and can be used, in particular, to restore the worn out rolling surfaces of railway wheels. Method includes welding of a metal layer onto the worn-out wheel surface of a wheel pair with the subsequent restoration of a predetermined wheel size and a rolling surface profile, the restoration of a given wheel size and a rolling surface profile being carried out by electrochemical treatment at a current density of at least 30–40 A/cm2 in one pass by feeding at least one tool electrode, the working profile of which corresponds to the profile of the rolling surface of the wheel, to the axis of rotation of the wheel pair perpendicular to it in the medium of the electrolyte supplied to the interelectrode gap formed by the working surface of the tool electrode and the machined surface of the wheel, while the working inter-electrode gap is maintained within the range of 0.07–0.5 mm.
EFFECT: invention ensures high accuracy of restoration of the rolling surfaces of railway wheels.
