FIELD: welding process. SUBSTANCE: method may be utilized when restoring worn surfaces of parts, in particular, worn surfaces of carriage wheel rims. Worn surface is first ground and then heated by external heat source to a temperature at least 100 C while smoothly turning wheel. Welding wire contains 0.06-0.1% carbon, 0.35-2.0% manganese, 0.5-0.7% molybdenum, 0.9-1.25% chromium, and 0.2-0.5% vanadium. Flux or flux combination contain 33-44% silica, 26-38% manganese oxide, 3.5-8.4% calcium fluoride, 6.5-10.5% calcium oxide, 5.0-15.8% magnesium oxide, and 4.5- 6.6% aluminum oxide. Surfacing is performed under voltage 28-30 v, current intensity 260-300 A, and wheel rotation speed 8-10 min per 1 turn. Surfacing is conducted with two electrodes arranged at angle 90 deg. to the surfacing, one after another, at distance 50 mm, electrodes being shifted across the seam by 1.5-2.5 mm. First, top part of crest is fused and then first layer onto horizontal section of rolling surface from the end to crest. Thereafter, surface is cooled to preheating temperature, second layer is fused, and, finally, working part of crest. EFFECT: increased productivity of welding process, improved quality of surfacing, and reduced power consumption.
