FIELD: reprocessing of mineral filaments covered with organic compositions. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding filaments into reservoir containing liquid glass bath; heating filaments to destruct covering; melting filaments. Liquid glass is mixed with mixer at speed sufficient for moving filaments covered with organic compositions, with filaments being heated and covering destructed till residual carbon is obtained. Method further involves oxidizing major part of residual carbon and dispersing filaments and nonoxidized residual carbon in liquid glass bath. Rectified glass from which glass filaments are to be formed is subjected to further treatment on standard equipment for producing glass filaments. Method may further involve preliminary treatment of glass filament wastes by grinding or milling to powder state to facilitate feeding of wastes into glass melting furnace, with high mixing degree being provided. EFFECT: increased efficiency and simplified method. 14 cl, 4 dwg
