FIELD: electrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with composite electrode possessing improved high-temperature characteristics. Composition from which electrode is manufactured via combustion synthesis contains about 40- 90 wt % of powder-like or fibrous combustible mixture which, on burning, is capable to form self-bound screen of ceramic and metal- ceramic composite and about 10-60 wt % of powder-like or fibrous filler capable to yield electrode with improved resistance to oxidation and to preserve adequate conductance at temperatures above 1000 C. Filler is selected from the following series of compounds: molybdenum silicide, silicon carbide, titanium carbide, boron carbide, zirconium boride, cerium oxide, cerium fluorooxide, and their mixtures.
