FIELD: cleaning the effluent gases from acid components, in particular, methods of cleaning gases containing chlorine and hydrogen chlorine in the technology of production of titanium and magnesium; may be used in nonferrous metallurgy and chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method includes treatment of gases with aqueous suspension of calcium hydroxide. The method is distinguished by preliminary adding to suspension of ground calcium carbonate in ratio Ca(OH)2:CaCO3=1:(0.2-1.5) by weight. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
