FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging nickel-, iron-, and flux-containing materials into arc furnace, smelting, formation of metal with slag, tapping products into ladle, and adjusting silicon content in metal by adding silicon reducing agent. According to invention, nickel-containing material is charged onto furnace bottom and iron-, and flux-containing material is charged over nickel- containing material under electrodes together with carbon reducing agent and lime at ratio 1.00: (0.01-0.40): (0.01-0.80), respectively. Silicon content in metal in ladle is adjusted to 0.1-0.8% for 1-10 min. As iron- and flux-containing material, magnetic fraction of converter-vanadium slag in the form of metal reject is used in amount 0.05-1.60 based on nickel weight.
