FIELD: electrometallurgy; coreless induction furnaces for melting and high-temperature treatment of materials. SUBSTANCE: induction furnace includes inductor, cold crucible where inner crucible is axially arranged which is isolated by heat-insulating layer. Inner crucible is made from silicon carbide is provided with upper and lower covers made from the same material. Covers are provided with holes. Thickness of wall of inner crucible is determined from the following formula: where ω is circular frequency in inductor; μ is magnetic permeability of inner crucible material; γ is electric conductivity of inner crucible material.
