DEVICE FOR CLEANING OF INTERNAL SURFACE OF PIPES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: cleaning of pipes from solid sediments in chemical mechanical engineering, power-producing industry; applicable, particular, in cleaning of condenser tubes from solid carbonate sediments. SUBSTANCE: the offered device has body with cutting roller heads in form of truncated cones secured to body end face at some angle to pipe surface. Head cutting rollers cut screw grooves in sediments, deepen and widen the grooves as device moves along the pipe. When rollers 8 touch the pipe surface, they shear off the remaining sediments and wash them off by pressure water jet in direction of motion of device. Water is supplied to pipe hollow through channels simultaneously with beginning of rotation of body device by pneumatic actuator. Rollers 7,8 are located by steps on roller heads, and number of steps corresponds to the number of roller heads in device. Number of roller heads depends on diameter of cleaned pipe. Rollers located at the base of cone are chamfered on their periphery to protect pipe surface from damage. Roller heads are secured in body with displacement in axial direction relative to each other by value Δ=. Device is moved along the pipe due to rotation in course of cleaning of roller heads in direction reverse to adopted device rotation. This is ensured by attachment of roller heads to body end surface at angle α to axis of body in its radial plane directed to the side reverse to direction of device rotation.
