FIELD: manufacture of glues, more particularly addition agents to motor and diesel oils. SUBSTANCE: purification process is carried out using water in two steps. In first step, hydrocarbon solution of polymer is treated with acidified water at pH of 1-5 at 20-50 C in polymer solution to water 1:(1-0.5) ratio by volume, and in second step, with water of pH of 7.0+- 0.5 and at polymer solution to water 1:(1-0.75) ratio by volume at 50-80 C. The resulting mixture is subsequently separated into aqueous and hydrocarbon phases, the hydrocarbon phase is separated and maintained at 50-80 C for at least 20 minutes. Prior to treatment of hydrocarbon solution of polymer with water, in first step said solution is treated with lower alcohol in equimolecular amount based on total amount of titanium and aluminium. Claimed method makes it possible to obtain polymer containing substantially no catalyst. Polymer is completely colorless and transparent. EFFECT: more efficient purification method. 2 cl, 1 tbl
