FIELD: methods of regulation of melt solidification in iron casting operations. SUBSTANCE: method includes determination of the own crystallizability of master melt and its modification. Sample of master melt is taken into sampling reservoir being before beginning of solidification in heat equilibrium with sample melt. Sampling reservoir has, at least, one thermocouple and contains preset and strictly metered quantity of seed based on FeSi sufficient for attaining maximum seeding effect. Sample melt is let to solidify, and the value of difference of temperatures between minimum temperature at the stage of overcooling before the very beginning eutectic reaction and maximum temperature at the stage of eutectic reaction on one side, and eutectic equilibrium temperature on the other side. If this difference exceeds 10K and 5K, respectively, introduced into melt are thermodynamically stable particles of spinel type or oxysulfide of such elements as magnesium, calcium, zirconium, strontium, titanium and rare-earth materials. These procedures may be repeated until above-specified values of temperatures difference prove to be within the limits specified above. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 9 cl, 1 dwg
