FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with ferrous metallurgy and presents a method of quantification of a structurally-modifying agent doped a pig-iron melt for production of microstructure at solidification of the pig-iron melt, that has a composition with a carbon equivalent approaching to an eutectic point of the phase diagram of iron-carbon. The Method provides for the following stages: calibration of an amount of the modifying agent, that should be added into the hypoeutectic melt for production of the pig-iron with a compact graphite or the pig-iron with aspheroidal graphite as a function of a maximum value of the α 1-st derivative of time on the cooling curve registered in the center of the container for sampling, a sampling of the melted pig-iron with use of a sampler, giving a time for the indicated sample solidification and registering the cooling curves during the cooling process in the center of the container for a sampling and at a wall of the container for a sampling to determine a heat emission curves defining a heat amount, that was emitted in the middle of the sampling process as the function of time using a heat-balance equation and the cooling curves registered during solidification of melt sample. The invention also presents a method of production of ingots from pig-iron with a compact graphite or ingots from pig-iron with a spheroidal graphite from the melted pig-iron having the eutectic or near to the eutectic composition. It also presents an installation, that allows to define what a modifying is to be added in the real time mode to the melt of the hypo eutectic or near-eutectic pig-iron in the process of production of the pig-iron ingots with a compact graphite. The installation contains: the first and second temperature sensors for registration of the cooling curve in the center and in a zone near a wall of the container for sampling. The installation also has a computer system used accordingly for calculation of a value of an amount of the needed modifying agent a computer software product for it. The invention offers an opportunity to evaluate the cooling curves registered for the near-eutectic melts of pig-iron. The curves are evaluated on the base of determination of the total amount of heat, emitted in the middle of the melt sampling process as a functions of time. The received information is used for determination of an amount of a structurally-modifying agent necessary for production of the pig-iron with a compact graphite and /or the pig-iron with a spheroidal graphite. EFFECT: the invention allows to determine an amount of a structurally-modifying agent doped pig-iron melt, offers a method and installation for production of ingots out of that pig-iron, a computer and software to serve the process. 6 cl, 10 dwg
