FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention particularly refers to processes of production of cast iron articles with compact and ball-shaped graphite with determination of coefficients from cooling curves and with control over content of structure modifying alloys in melt. Four calibrations based on cooling curves registered in center of vessel for specimens are carried out to establish quantity of modifying alloy added into melt to produce cast iron with compact and ball-shaped graphite. Cooling curves are then analyzed to determine control factors γ,φ,ρв and k. Three independent determinations of quantity of structure modifying addition agents are executed and most accurate result is found. Invention is also related to gear for control over production of cast iron that includes sampler, computer system to collect data and aid to inject structure modifying addition agent into molten cast iron. Sampler includes representative specimen of molten cast iron which is subjected to thermal analysis during which measurements of curves " temperature-time " are entered into computer and displayed as cooling curves. Computer computes required quantity of injected structure modifying addition agent and automatically activates aid to inject structure modifying addition agent. As result melt is provided with proper quantity of these addition agents. EFFECT: capability to predict microstructure of cast iron, to evaluate substantially large range of curves " temperature-time " and to choose required quantity of modifying addition agent injected into melt to produce cast iron with compact and ball-shaped graphite. 12 cl, 6 dwg
