METHOD FOR DIRECTION FINDING FOR RADIO SIGNALS AND MULTIPLE-CHANNEL DIRECTION FINDER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2096797 C1

FIELD: radio engineering, in particular, direction finding to simultaneously several radio sources. SUBSTANCE: method involves receiving signals with directional antenna system, conversion of signals by means of multiple-channel receiver, comparison of their spectral characteristics. Directional antenna system has elements of antenna array and one element which provides possibility of wide-band isotropic non-directional reception and is connected to reference channel of receiver. Then method involves measurement of complex spectrums of signals in each channel and reference channel for identical time intervals, separation of complex spectrums into given frequency bands and comparison of complex spectral characteristics for each frequency band. Corresponding device has antenna system, commutator, receiver which outputs are connected to inputs of Fourier transform units through analog-to-digital converters. Antenna system has antenna array and non-directional antenna. Receiver has two channels one of which is reference one and another one is signal one. Signal input of receiver is connected to outputs of elements of antenna array through commutator, reference input of receiver is connected to output of non-directional antenna. Outputs of Fourier transform units for signal and reference channels are connected to respective inputs of direction calculation unit for signal and reference channels through memory units. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 9 cl, 1 dwg
