FIELD: high-voltage technology. SUBSTANCE: pulse lightning arrester is made of solid dielectric in the form of extended body with smooth surface. End electrodes of arrester are positioned at arrester ends. Another circular electrode (second main electrode) is arranged around insulation body of arrester at distance from end electrodes which determines spark gap size. Auxiliary electrode coupled to end electrodes and passing along the entire length of arrester insulation body is provided inside the latter. Auxiliary electrode and end electrodes form first main electrode. First and second main electrodes of arrester are coupled to line elements being under different potentials.
